Velvety Blue

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

(Striped Sweater: Zara// Cardigan: Giordano// Shorts: Pinkaholic Fashion Shoppe// Pumps: Feet For A Queen// Clutch: Topshop// Ring: SM Accessories)

Here's the blue version of the velvet shorts I wore in this POST. Among the two colors, I have a soft spot for this ink hue. It's even more gorgeous when seen up close. The sheen gets played up when light hits the fabric. I decided to pair these shorts with my towering red pumps and transforming cardigan from Giordano (wore it as a vest). I've had this cardigan for quite some now but I only had the chance to feature it in this blog today (blame it on my chaos of a closet). There are a lot of available multi-way dresses in stores but nothing much on multi-way outerwear pieces. This cardigan is such a good buy for its versatility and function. I can wear it in many different ways and it helps keep me warm during colder days and inside freezing airconditioned areas.

Banana Yellow

Sunday, February 26, 2012

(Sweater: Clothes For The Goddess// Trousers: Mango// Wedges: Zara// Clutch: SM Accessories// Ring: Parfois// Necklace: H&M// Spike Earrings: Topshop)

An almost-neutral look spiked up with a bright yellow sweater. I'm currently obsessed with the yellow hue (fluorescent yellow, banana yellow, butter yellow, etc.). I have a couple of yellow-sprinkled looks lined up so if you loathe yellow, this already serves as a warning. Haha. My other favorite piece in this outfit aside from the knit jumper? Those creamy wedges made with the softest leather. Got them for a good deal at almost 70% off. Oh I love end-of-season sales.

White Out

(Top: Style Staple// Skirt: Clothes Off// Bag & Belt: SM Accessories// Wedges: Gold Dot// Yellow Cuff: Envy// Necklace & Gold Cuff: Ruckus)

I've always wanted to sport an all-white ensemble but I just didn't have enough white pieces in my closet to come up with a decent immaculate all-white look. Imagine my delight when I received this white top and skirt in the mail...they just make a perfect pair. The skirt is supposed to be worn high-waist but I decided to wear them low-slung to give an illusion of mile-long limbs. And as for the top, I just can't enough of its cross back design. Topped off the whole look with a wide-brimmed hat, round sunnies, kitschy accessories and a yellow leather cuff for some pop of color. Coincidentally, we found this vintage Volkswagen truck which makes for a perfect backdrop to my off-to-Coachella look.

Ink Pashli

 3.1 Phillip Lim 'Pashli Tote'

Okay. So initially, I wanted to get the Alexander Wang 'Rocco' bag but I ended up going with Phillip Lim's Pashli tote instead. What I love about this bag is its gorgeous ink color, grooved leather, roomy interior, structured shape, and zipper design. Pashli may not be as rugged-looking as the rocco, but it is actually quite versatile as it can go well with a polished look and with a casual and grungy ensemble as well. This bag would've been perfect if only the handles were longer (for easy shoulder toting). But that's alright. I'm quite used to lugging around short-handled bags that weigh a ton. I don't usually splurge on high-end designer pieces but I think I owe it to myself to get some reward for all of the hard work I've put in (in work and in every aspect of my life) these past couple of years. Expect to see this bag in action in upcoming posts! :)

Jaded

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

(Pants: Zara// Top: 11th of October// Shoes: Gold Dot// Eyewear: Mango// Cuff: Ruckus)

Just one of them days when the creative juice ain't flowin' and the only decent outfit I can conceive is a jeans+boots+basic tee combo. Times like this, sunglasses, silver jewelry and an interesting pair of jeans can be your best friends to spiffy up a dull look (although hair pushed up with a headband ain't helping). I just came back from an annual beach trip to surfer's paradise, San Juan, La Union (more on this in another post though). I also had my hair "ombred" yet again (the hair I'm sporting here is not yet the "new" ombre..again, more on this on a separate post). This time though, I can say that I'm 95% pleased with the result. No more rusty orange hair! Now if only my fringe can grow 10x longer in a minute. Haaay...

Flashy

(Jeans: Topshop// Top: WAGW// Clutch: Impulse Co// Wing Cuff: Juicy Couture// Earrings: Love Diva// Shoes: Zara)

How's this for a flashy sequin extravaganza? Haha! I wore this ensemble to my friend's baby dedication about two weeks ago. I know, I know...sequins may seem like a wrong idea to wear to a dedication but I convinced myself that wearing sequins during the day is fine so long as I pair it with casual pieces such as a pair of corduroy jeans. I think students with fashion design degrees would agree with this pairing.

Tightened the whole week with gold accessories and a small textured clutch in a gorgeous teal color from Impulse Co.

Happy Hearts Day!

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

No matter how much of cliche a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates are as gifts for Valentine's Day, admit it...it's still a no-fail gesture that gets women all googly-eyed and giggly. I sure did end up feeling like this when I received the presents above from my sweet guy (press "barf" button now). The gorgeous orange heels, on the other hand, are a Valentine's treat for myself. Yes, they are quite the ladylike pair but they're sophisticated and unpretentiously sexy. They remind me a bit of the Alexander Wang Fabiana heels, without the cape and with a thicker upper and back support. These will look so damn good with tapered trousers or a pantsuit.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! This day is for celebrating love, whether you're married, in a relationship or single. But I say this, keep on spreading the love even beyond Valentine's Day. No to negative vibes and haters (you know who you are)!

Meeting Cheapthrills

Friday, February 10, 2012

(Sweater: Topshop// Skirt: Zara// Boots: Chloe Sevigny x OS// Clutch: F21// Watch: Parfois)

Over the Holiday break, I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Raez of Cheapthrills. I've been following Raez's blog for over 2 years now. I love the photos and the witty content in Raez's posts as well as the spunky attitude she gives off in her outfit poses. Raez was born in the Philippines but is now residing in Canada. When I found out that she was coming over to the Philippines for a 2-week vacation, I nudged myself to ask her for a quick meet-up and I'm thankful that she obliged. We met up in the South and I took her for some bit of shopping in Alabang and in Makati. Seconds were spent conversing about fashion, school systems, education, life in Canada and the quick changes that took place in the Philippines. Raez's dad accompanied us during our shipping trip and I must say, he's one of the coolest and most adorable dads I've ever met.

For an 18 year old, Raez is surely wise beyond her years. What I admire about her the most is her go-getter attitude. At such a young age, she's already set on the career she wants to pursue after college and aims to get to her goal/s and be the best at it. Wish I was as strong-willed as her when I was 18 years old.

Beyond The Obvious

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

(Jumper: Clothes For The Goddess// Skirt: WAGW// Wedges: Gold Dot// Necklace: H&M// Cuff: Ruckus// Stud Earrings: Topshop// Gold Metal Belt: Nava)

Edric is one of those people who appreciates the beauty in the mundane and sees a story behind and beyond the obvious. And he was able to capture that in this photo set. In the first photo, it seems as if I'm a few feet away from the edge of a precipice...but the truth is, I was just standing behind an expansive white wall. Brilliant, right?

Yes. See you soon again, Edric.

(Leather Jacket: Zara// Dress: Paradigm Shift// Wedges: Gold Dot// Collarbone Necklace: OS// Cuff: Ruckus)

As promised, here are the photos from the collabo shoot I had with Anton. Anton currently dabbles in street photography, taking photos of friends and of random breathing souls. I'm not sure if this shoot was his first themed one, but I sure did enjoy doing it with him. It's nice to break away from "outfit" posts once in a while. It's also great to be in the company of people who share the same interests and vision as I do, moreso if they all reside in the same area as where I live (cheers to the South, baby!). When Anton and I were discussing the theme for this shoot, I knew in my head that I wanted to wear this Ornithopter dress from Paradigm Shift. It's such a simple piece but has a tough and sultry whimsy to it. It sure hell looks good with the Drei wedges from Gold Dot too. Now, if this look doesn't project a "Don't you dare mess with me!" 'tude, I don't know what else will.

I'll share another set of photos in the next post! Till then, lovelies! :)

P.S. Thank you once again to Camille Regala for doing my hair and makeup for this shoot. You effin' rock, baby girl! Hell yeahz!
